In the past, the farm produced potatoes, dairy, strawberries, and beef cattle. While we cherish those days, the farm has shifted its focus to meet the needs of our ever-changing community. We are currently growing fruit and vegetables on raised beds, protected by a tall electric fence built with our own hands.
Our goal is to grow local produce to be sold to the public, used in our schools and eventually to establish an "on farm" produce stand. We are reaching out to local restaurants and grocery stores in an attempt to make our produce more available to the public who are increasingly hungry for locally grown items. We also want to be involved heavily in the movement to teach school children where their food comes from and welcome having them come to the farm for field trips. We will be putting up a high tunnel later this year to be able to extend our growing season in an area that often jokes about having 2 seasons…4th of July and winter.
